Welcome to the People Collection, where we harness the power of unity and compassion to drive meaningful change in the world. This extraordinary collection comprises five interconnected Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Hunger (Goal 2), Good Health (Goal 3), Gender Equality (Goal 5), Clean Water and Sanitation (Goal 6), and Reduced Inequalities (Goal 10).
Together, these goals create a formidable force for progress, embodying our shared commitment to building a better world together.
Goal 2: Zero Hunger
Goal 2 stands as a resolute reminder that sufficient and healthy food should be available to everyone. Shockingly, 1 in 9 people worldwide suffer from undernourishment, primarily in developing nations. The effects of undernutrition are devastating, with 52 million children experiencing severe wasting. Tragically, undernutrition is responsible for nearly half of all deaths among children under the age of five, claiming the lives of 3.1 million innocent souls each year. Our unwavering dedication to ending hunger and achieving food security drives us forward.
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being
We recognize the paramount importance of ensuring healthy lives for all, regardless of age or circumstance. Tremendous progress has been made in increasing life expectancy and reducing child and maternal mortality. However, with 5.6 million children still dying before their fifth birthday annually, we acknowledge that there is much work to be done. Together, we must combat communicable diseases, provide universal access to healthcare, and foster mental well-being. Let us strive for a future where no one is left behind in their pursuit of good health.
Goal 5: Gender Equality
Equality is an essential cornerstone of the People Collection. We envision a world where women and girls are empowered, with equal rights and opportunities. While we celebrate the increase in women’s representation in national parliaments and their access to decision-making positions, we cannot ignore the persistence of harmful practices such as the stigma of female mensuration and lack of access to menstrual products, which can cause school absences of 20% a year. Through our unwavering commitment to leave no one behind, we aim to dismantle discriminatory barriers and create a society where every individual can flourish.
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
Water and sanitation is absolutely crucial for sustainable development. The staggering reality is that 4.5 billion people lack safely managed sanitation, while only 71 percent of the global population has access to safely managed drinking water. Water stress is a pressing issue in certain regions, placing strains on communities and ecosystems. Our collective efforts must ensure the availability and sustainable management of water resources for all, protecting the vital ecosystems that depend on them.
Goal 10:
Reduced Inequalities
Goal 10 stands as a testament to our commitment to building a fairer and more inclusive world. Income inequality persists, with the bottom 40 percent of the population receiving less than 25 percent of overall income or consumption. Discrimination, particularly against women and individuals with disabilities, remains a pervasive challenge. We firmly believe in fostering social, economic, and political inclusion, promoting equal opportunities, and eradicating all forms of discrimination. Together, we can bridge these gaps and foster a society where every person’s potential can be realized.
